Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM), the revolutionary app developed by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is currently live for customers of 58 banks across the country. The app which was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on December 30, 2016 has emerged as a preferred choice for millions of people who admire the app due to the convenience offered to the users.
BHIM works 24X7 and money gets transferred directly to the user’s bank account. One can also make a payment by scanning QR code. The other useful feature of the app is that one can even initiate a collect request for funds to any BHIM or Unified Payments Interface (UPI) app user.
“I use this app to send money to my friends. It is a very fast mode of transferring money and all I need to know is Unified Payments Interface (UPI) ID of the person. There is no need to remember account number and IFSC of the bank. BHIM is very simple to use and one has the option of adding beneficiaries for repeat transactions,” said twenty one year old Kapish Garg who is a pharmacy student in Punjab.
Using the BHIM app one can even split and share bills with their contacts, set payment reminders for convenience and also download transaction statements for reference. Features such as marking unidentified collect requests as spam also brings in incremental security. Kapish has been using BHIM since the beginning of 2017.
BHIM can also be referred to friends and family members. The advantage is that the referrer as well as the referee receives reward in the form of incentive after completion of certain number of transactions.
How does the scheme work?
The referrer needs to encourage the referee to download the BHIM App and enter the referrer’s mobile number as the referral code. For both referrer and referee to get their reward, the referee has to make minimum three transactions totaling to a minimum value of Rs. 50. On successful completion of the process, the referrer would get Rs. 25 and the referee who does the payment would also get Rs. 25.
