Yesterday March 11, 2016 – The day the star power of 2 of the biggest stars in the industry were put under acid test. Love Punjab and Ardaas clashed against each other and to decide the ultimate box office performer – Team Amrinder Gill or Team Gippy Grewal. Its like a sorts of DC’s Batman v/s Superman or Marvel’s Civil War where both the teams are set to go on a war against each other.
On one side is an actor who has risen above all odds solely on the basis of his performances and on the other side is a star who has been struggling to gather audiences for his last 3-4 releases.
On one side there’s a Team who have tried to tell the problems being faced by the people in Punjab on a day to day basis and the other side.
Films have been released and reviews are out in the open. Both the films have received acclaim but the Box Office race on Day 1 has been won by Love Punjab.
Love Punjab has done good business with 88 lakhs nett business in East Punjab and and another 10 lakhs nett apprx across the rest of India for an all India total of nearly 1 crore nett. On the other hand, Ardaas did decent with 59 lakhs nett in East Punjab and around 5 lakhs nett in the rest of India. It will be an interesting battle between the films as though Ardaas has collected less it is more to do with less screenings. The occupancy for both films are very similar.
