The newly released Punjabi film, Sikka which opened on October 30th has opened to dull houses on Day 1 and Day 2. The film had got a decent number of shows considering it had no face value at all but thanks to very low key publicity by the makers, people weren’t even aware of a Punjabi release this weekend. Many shows in Chandigarh were cancelled due to no turnouts and some of the shows had occupancy in single figures.
Well this is not a new story for Punjabi films in the recent past but the makers fail to learn a lesson out of this. We seriously hope that the makers of low-key films get their facts right and plan different strategies for release instead of arriving on a weekend which already had 10-12 other releases.
