Directed by Manmohan Singh, Film Ajj De Ranjhe made a poor opening in the cinemas. Released worldwide and also in Pakistan the movie had less craze among the Punjabi youth.
The popularity of the movie can be determined from its Facebook Page as well. The Official Facebook Fan Page of the movie had just 698 fans* one day after the release whereas movies like Raula Pai Gaya had more than 80,000 fans even before the release.
On the ground levels, the team of Punjabi Mania visited various cinemas in Ludhiana, Chandigarh and Bathinda to check the responses by the audience. In the recent times where most of the Punjabi films have Sold-Out weekends in advance, Ajj De Ranjhe opened to almost empty houses. Most of the halls were empty even in the afternoon shows, which are believed to be at the peak especially for the Single Screens.
PunjabiMania believes poor promotion of the movie is somewhere responsible for such a mild response on day one.
