Box Office Collections of Punjabi Film Super Singh starring Diljit Dosanjh and Sonam Bajwa, Directed by Anurag Singh.
First Day First Show
Super Singh, the new Diljit Dosanjh starrer has opened in cinemas today worldwide. The general trend for a Diljit starrer is always on a high note. But this time the case is different. The film hasn’t had the occupancy rates of 90-10 % unlike the last few films of Diljit in the past. The morning shows have had just about 50-60% occupancy and the Hall where we saw the film had a mere 5% occupancy but that is not the general trend. The opening day record which Diljit is very much used to breaking with his June releases, could very much be safe with Sardaarji 2 the moment, however the evening shows could spring up an unexpected surprise. Stay tuned to Punjabi Mania for the most authentic box office collections of Super Singh everyday at 3 P.M.
Day 1
Super Singh managed to collect a mere Rs. 1,32,00,000 on Day 1 in East Punjab Region. Considering Diljit’s track record the Day 1 figures are really low since his previous 3 releases have all crossed the Rs. 2 crore mark in previous years and Super Singh considering its high budget will now find it even more hard to recover considering it has only a week before Tubelight releases and Sunday is the big Champions Trophy Final. The film added another Rs. 35 lacs from Rest Of India territories to take Day 1 All India Total to Rs. 1.65 Crores.
Day 2
Super Singh managed to add another Rs. 1,47,00,000 on Day 2 in East Punjab region taking the 2-day total of the film in East Punjab region to a whooping Rs. 2,79,00,000. The film will have the 2nd highest Opening Weekend of 2017 and a 5th or 6th highest Opening Weekend of all time depending on where the final Sunday figures end up due to a high voltage cricket match on Sunday which will hit the film hard. Also the film is performing in some of the A centres of Punjab like Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Patiala and in B centres the occupancy levels are just about 60-65% which is not heard off for a Diljit Dosanjh starrer. Usually, there is always a shortage of tickets but this time people are just not going in cinemas in larger numbers like last few years.
Day 3
Super Singh’s Opening Weekend has come to an end and the weekend has been pretty much below the standards of Diljit Dosanjh films. The film dropped on Sunday but it was due to the Champions Trophy Final match and that drop will be covered up in Monday collections but the ticket prices on Monday will be lower than weekends at many places. The film collected Rs. 1,43,00,000 on Day 3 in East Punjab region taking its 3-day total in the region to Rs. 4,22,00,000. Also the film added Rs 1,40,00,000 from other territories in India taking its All India Weekend total to Rs. 5.62 Crores which is a strong weekend for a Punjabi film but not for a Diljit Dosanjh starrer especially if their budgets is North of Rs. 13 crores.
Day 4
Super Singh managed to collect Rs. 79,00,000 on Day 4 in East Punjab region taking its 4-day total in the region to Rs. 5,01,00,000. The film added another Rs. 30,00,000 in Rest of India territories taking the All India total to Rs. 6.71 Crores in 4 days.
Day 5
Super Singh managed to collect Rs. 66,00,000 on Day 5 in East Punjab region taking its 5-day total in the region to Rs. 5,67,00,000. The film added another Rs. 25,00,000 in Rest of India territories taking the All India total to Rs. 7.62 Crores in 5 days.
Day 6
Super Singh managed to collect Rs. 63,00,000 on Day 6 in East Punjab region taking its 6-day total in the region to Rs. 6,30,00,000. The film added another Rs. 25,00,000 in Rest of India territories taking the All India total to Rs. 8.50 Crores in 6 days. There was hardly any drop in Day 6 from Day 5 all over as the film managed to hold well all along with the biggest support coming from Amritsar where the film showed 200% growth from Tuesday to Wednesday as the film collected Rs. 12.50 Lacs on Wednesday in Amritsar City as opposed to Rs. 6.20 Lacs on Tuesday.
Day 7
Super Singh managed to collect Rs. 51,00,000 in East Punjab region taking it’s Week 1 Total in East Punjab region to Rs. 6,83,00,000. Super Singh added another Rs. 21,00,000 in Rest of India territories taking the All India total to Rs. 9.22 Crores in Week 1. Super Singh has managed the 4th highest collections of All Time for a Punjabi Film in Week 1. However, the real test will begin now when the film will face major competition in the form of Salman Khan starrer Tubelight. Below is a comparison of Day-Wise Collections of Super Singh & Sardaarji 2 from East Punjab region.
Week 1 Comparative Chart with Sardaarji 2 (Diljit’s Last major Punjabi Release) Figures of East Punjab:
Day | Sardaarji 2 | Super Singh |
1 | Rs. 2,05,00,000 | Rs. 1,32,00,000 |
2 | Rs. 2,12,00,000 | Rs. 1,47,00,000 |
3 | Rs. 2,49,00,000 | Rs. 1,43,00,000 |
4 | Rs. 1,33,00,000 | Rs. 79,00,000 |
5 | Rs. 1,02,00,000 | Rs. 66,00,000 |
6 | Rs. 93,00,000 | Rs. 63,00,000 |
7 | Rs. 74,00,000 | Rs. 51,00,000 |
Total | Rs. 10,69,00,000 | Rs. 6,83,00,00 |
Day 8
Super Singh Collections fell drastically down on Day 8. There are more than 1 reasons for the fall. Firstly, it is the release of Tubelight due to which shows at all plexes are reduced by more than half. Secondly, the word of mouth is not great for this film. The film managed to collect Rs. 24,00,000 in East Punjab region on Day 8 taking its 8-day total in the region to Rs. 7,07,00,000. Film’s run in other parts of the country is almost over as the there was around 90% drop in the Rest of India collections of the film. Super Singh managed to add a mere Rs. 4,00,000 on Day 8 from other territories taking its All India 8-day total to Rs. 9.50 Crores. Super Singh should end its total run at around Rs. 13,00,00,000 which is good for any Punjabi film but not in this case as the budget of the film is above Rs. 13 crores so I highly doubt that the film will break even.
Day 9
Super Singh managed to collect Rs. 34,00,000 on Day 9 in East Punjab region taking its 9-day total in the region to Rs. 7,41,00,000. Due to the release of Tubelight, the shows have reduced significantly and things are not looking good for the film ahead.
Day 10
Super Singh collected Rs. 44,00,000 on it’s Day 10 (2nd Sunday) in East Punjab region taking its 10-day total in the region to Rs. 7,85,00,000. The 2nd Weekend Total of the film in East Punjab region is Rs. 1.02 Crores.
Day 11
Super Singh managed to collect Rs. 32,00,000 on Day 1 in East Punjab region taking its 11-day total in the region to Rs. 8,17,00,000. Monday being Eid Holiday, helped the film to maintain the Saturday collections but the occupancies were equivalent to Sunday but the collections are a bit lower due to the weekday ticket prices at many places.
Day 12
Super Singh managed to collect Rs. 21,00,000 on Day 12 in East Punjab region taking its 12-day total in the region to Rs. 8,38,00,000.
Day 13
Super Singh managed to collect Rs. 22,00,000 on Day 13 in East Punjab region taking its 13-day total in the region to Rs. 8,60,00,000.
Day 14
Super Singh collected Rs. 18,00,000 on Day 14 in East Punjab region taking its 14-day (2 Week) total in the region to Rs. 8,78,00,000. Rest of India territories added another Rs. 30,00,000 during Week 2 taking it’s all India 2-week total to Rs. 11.50 Crores in 2 weeks. The total is a good number for any other Punjabi film but not Super Singh given the film has high costs involved. Coming Week is a pretty open week with Tubelight also being a non-performer at the Box Office and no major releases, Super Singh should have a Week 3 similar to the weekdays of Week 2 where we can expect a total of Rs. 1.25 Crores in the coming week placing Super Singh at No. 4 in the list of All Time Highest Punjabi Grossers (Live Action).
