Smeep Kang’s ‘Carry On Jatta’ will unequivocally go down as a landmark Punjabi movie. If the filter of slapstick comedy is applied in the Punjabi industry, it might as well top that list. Such was the magnitude of the family entertainer which was released in 2012. Apart from gaining critical accolades, the movie also went on to become a grand money-spinning piece of merchandise.

The merchandise has now been converted into a brand, whose second edition is all in readiness to release on June 1. The shoot of ‘Carry On Jatta 2’ went off the ground in Mohali last year. The makers have gone ahead with almost the same names of high standing in the Punjabi industry in Gippy Grewal, Binnu Dhillon, Jaswinder Bhalla, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, and B.N. Sharma, names which have been instrumental in bringing Carry On Jatta at a stage where it is today.

Having said that, to add to the confusion, some new names have also been added to the sequel. They are:

1. Sonam Bajwa - Sonam Bajwa, one of the leading actresses of the contemporary Punjabi cinema, has also been signed for Carry On Jatta 2. Having made her debut in Manmord Sidhu’s ‘Best of Luck’ in 2013, Bajwa has been part of sundry blockbuster Punjabi movies in ‘Punjab 1984’, ‘Nikka Zaildar’, ‘Manje Bistre’ and others. With Carry On Jatta 2 in her bag now, it seems that her success spree is bound to continue this year as well.



2. Upasana Singh - Upasana Singh is a time-honoured artist who has been a regular face on the celluloid for more than two and a half decades now. Apart from a profusion of Hindi movies that she has featured in, she has also played a vital role in the prominent Indian sketch comedy and celebrity talk show, ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’. Talking about the Punjabi film industry, she was widely praised for her role in ‘Jatt & Juliet’ and ‘Daddy Cool Munde Fool’ in the recent years. If reports are to be believed, she has been roped in the movie to perform an uncommon role.

3. Jyotii Sethi - Earlier seen opposite Ammy Virk in Baljinder S Mahant's short movie 'Dil Wali Gal' and Gippy Grewal's single track 'Photo', Jyotii Sethi has been roped in to play a vital character in Carry On Jatta 2.



In Nirmal Rishi and Hobby Dhaliwal, the audiences will see two eminent names of the Punjabi film industry acting in Carry On Jatta 2. However, the length of their respective roles is still unclear. Karamjit Anmol, who was seen in the first part as well, has been promoted manifold times in terms of his role, which is expected to last for a substantial time on screen. It has mainly to do with his career graph which has risen in the right direction since Carry On Jatta.

In terms of casting, it appears that the makers have ticked all the boxes for the inclusion of the above mentioned names have certainly bolstered the movie in terms of star power. The promotion of the movie has already begun and will only increase with time in the upcoming weeks, accelerating the curiosity among the audiences in Punjab and overseas.
