CCPCR Issues Advisory for Diljit Dosanjh’s Live Show in Chandigarh on December 14

Diljit Dosanjh Chandigarh Concert Latest News: The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) has issued a public advisory in the lead-up to the highly anticipated live performance by popular artist Diljit Dosanjh, scheduled for December 14, 2024, at the Exhibition Ground, Sector-34, Chandigarh.

The advisory comes as part of the Commission’s efforts to safeguard the rights and well-being of children attending the event.

The CCPCR, established under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005, is tasked with monitoring child rights and ensuring that events involving minors are conducted in a manner that prioritizes their safety and mental health.

Key Guidelines Issued by CCPCR

In its advisory, CCPCR has highlighted several key concerns and issued specific guidelines for the event organizers:

1. Sound Levels:

Referring to reports from the World Health Organization, which recommend that sound levels above 120 decibels can be harmful to children’s hearing, the CCPCR urged event organizers not to invite children on stage during performances where peak sound pressure levels exceed this threshold. The advisory stresses the importance of minimizing potential auditory harm, especially in a live music setting.

2. Content Advisory:

The Commission also raised concerns about certain songs by Diljit Dosanjh, particularly tracks like Patiala Peg, 5 Tara, and Case, which contain themes of alcohol, drugs, and violence. The CCPCR strongly recommended that these songs, or any similar tracks promoting harmful behavior, be avoided during the show. The Commission noted that such content can have a negative influence on young, impressionable audiences, particularly children in attendance.

3. Alcohol Consumption:

The advisory further emphasizes the legal responsibility of organizers to ensure that individuals under the age of 25 are not served alcohol at the event. Under the Juvenile Justice Act and other relevant laws, serving alcohol to minors is a punishable offense, and the CCPCR called for strict adherence to these legal guidelines.

Chairperson of CCPCR, Shipra Bansal, expressed the Commission’s commitment to ensuring that events in Chandigarh are conducted in a manner that upholds the best interests of children. “While we recognize the importance of cultural and entertainment events in our city, it is imperative that we prioritize the safety and well-being of young audiences,” Bansal said. “Our advisory aims to ensure that this event is not only enjoyable but also responsible, especially when it comes to the vulnerable minds of children.”

Event organizers have been urged to cooperate fully with the advisory and to take necessary steps to implement the recommended measures. The CCPCR has assured the public that it will continue to monitor the situation and take further action if needed.
