Did The Punjabi Industry Cast Their Important Votes In Lok Sabha Elections?

The last round of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections ended on June 1, 2024. In Punjab, the democratic spirit was palpable. Voting for their preferred candidates was something that people were well aware of due to the polling. In addition, a number of well-known Punjabis came out to fulfill their civic obligations on that particular day.

Jassie Gill, the hearthrob of Punjab, was one of the celebrities who cast their votes and came forward to share them with their fans. He shared the inked finger with the "I Voted Did You?" sticker on Snapchat. It made fans happy and felt that apart from being such a famous musician who worked in Bollywood as well, he still cast his ballot and became a responsible citizen.

In addition to Jassie Gill, upcoming artist Amrit Amby has appeared in several films, including Zindagi Zindabad, Jatt Nuu Chudail Takri, and the Punjabi web series Yaar Jigree Kasooti Degree. In addition, he posted a humorous video on Instagram emphasizing the importance of voting.

Rupinder Handa, Gul Panag, and Raj Dhaliwal have also uploaded a photo in which an inked finger is visible, demonstrating their responsibility as citizens of a democracy.

Moreover, Karamjit Anmol, a well-known actor in the Punjabi film industry and the Aam Aadmi Party's nominee for the Lok Sabha seat of Faridkot, exercised his right to vote at the polling place located at Face 10 in Mohali.

Many more Punjabi singers, however, are Canadian citizens who make their living both in Punjab and India. They don't even make an effort to provide films or images raising awareness of the voting.

Additionally, the office of Punjab's Chief Electoral Officer has been earmarked for cricket player Shubhnan Gill and Tarsem Jassar. In these kinds of regions, Shubman Gill would inspire voters and boost participation. Tarsem Jassar, a well-known Punjabi musician, had previously run similar campaigns and been chosen as a "state icon."

However, nothing was shared on their social media on Saturday, June 1, 2024, as can be seen, indicating that they were aware of the audience but chose not to participate. That all the artists are eating bread and butter from Punjab and haven't even bothered to support the elections is a disgrace to the Punjabi music business.
