Gippy Grewal differentiates between Jatt James Bond and Daaka: The writer, actor and producer opened up on how both the movies are different from each other.
Slated to release on November 1, Baljit Singh Deo's 'Daaka' will witness actress Zareen Khan appearing in a Punjabi movie after five years. Last seen in Rohit Jugraj's 'Jatt James Bond', Zareen will once again play the lead role opposite Gippy Grewal in Daaka.
"Of course, I have a comfort working with him [Gippy Grewal]. Jatt James Bond was my first-ever experience in Punjab. All thanks to him for making me comfortable. He's a very big star here. But he was so humble.
"I didn't want to do just anything [in the Punjabi industry]. We were waiting to make 'Jatt James Bond 2' for a long time. But here we are with Daaka. When Gippy called me, there was no reason to say no," Zareen was quoted as saying in an interview with Punjabi Mania.
"It's not about working with Bollywood celebrities..."
As far as Grewal is concerned, Daaka will not be the first time when he will work with an artist from Bollywood. Having worked with Jackie Shroff in 'Lucky Di Unlucky Story', Akshay Kumar in 'Bhaji in Problem', Yashpal Sharma and Mukesh Rishi in Jatt James Bond and Dharmendra in 'Double Di Trouble', Grewal has had quite an experience with Bollywood artists.
Being asked about working with artists from the other industries and building associations, Grewal laid emphasis on requirement of the script and talked about how his home production of humble Motion Pictures promotes the same.

"It's not about working with Bollywood celebrities per se. If we want, we can bring anyone from Bollywood [in the Punjabi industry]. However, I feel you should bring only the one you need in your film. We had signed Mukesh Rishi ji [in Jatt James Bond] because we didn't have an actor like Hobby Dhaliwal back then. Similarly, there were requirements in my previous movies.
"Generally speaking, I believe when someone works with me, he/she should be genuinely associated with me. Humble Motion Pictures is the only production house in Punjab which makes such multi-starer movies. I mean we didn't have space on Manje Bistre's poster to add another face," Grewal said.

There is no hiding to the fact that Daaka has glimpses of Jatt James Bond in it. While writer, actor and producer Grewal doesn't deny the same, he also revealed what separates the two movies and why Zareen was cast in Daaka.
"Talking about Daaka, Zareen [Khan] was very suitable and deserving [for this role]. She is looking good in the movie. When Shinda and Laali will share the screen, you will be remembered of Jatt James Bond. Other than this, both the movies are very different. Jatt James Bond was based on a theft but Daaka is based on a robbery.
"Hobby Dhaliwal's character is entirely different from Mukesh Rishi's character. After interval, the film is something else. It's a different feel which has been shot exceptionally well by Baljit [Singh Deo] bhaji. His taking on the movie is really good. There's this 20-25 minute parallel sequence after the robbery, he has done a fantastic job shooting it," Grewal added.
