Kaka Ji successfully enters second week: The first successful venture of Punjabi industry has successfully made it to the second week.
There is no hiding to the fact that Punjabi movie ‘Kaka Ji‘ has become the first successful venture of this year in the Punjabi film industry. Released on January 18 on the back of a well though-out distribution strategy, the movie has has turned out to be a success at the box-office.
Having made three critically and commercially acclaimed movies in ‘Rupinder Gandhi – The Gangster..?‘, ‘Rupinder Gandhi 2: The Robinhood‘ and ‘Dakuaan Da Munda‘ in as many years, this venture has introduced production house Dreamreality Movies into the commercial genre. The decision has proved to be a step in the right direction in terms of foraying into something new.
Talking about the numbers, Punjabi Mania understands that the movie achieved break-even during its first week's collection of both India and overseas. While it is still playing in East Punjab and overseas, one expects it to make further profits in its second and subsequent weeks.
While it is likely for successful movies to continue their domination in the cinema halls, what has made Kaka Ji stand out is its ability to not wither away amidst cut-throat competition in the cinema halls. It is worth mentioning that Kaka Ji faced stiff competition from Rohit Shetty's 'Simmba', Aditya Dhar's 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' and Soumik Sen's 'Why Cheat India' in its first week.
While Uri: The Surgical Strike has continued to churn out the numbers, the recent releases in Krish and Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' and Abhijit Panse's 'Thackrey' have it them to further affect the numbers of the Punjabi movie.
Given the names involved in all of the above mentioned Hindi movies, it is outstanding for Kaka Ji to enter its second week with a respectable number of shows in cinema halls in East Punjab.
