Review: Sarvann is not a film. Sarvann is not the story of someone finding his roots. Sarvann is not the story of that ‘Sarvann’ putt which the director & team referred to during the promotions. Sarvann is an experience. It is a once in a lifetime experience. And No, it’s not at all a pleasant one. It was a disappointment rather I should say ‘King-Sized Dissapointment’.

The story, screenplay & dialogues were written by Amberdeep Singh and were based on an idea by Karaan Guliani. Amberdeep who has done wonders with his writing in his last 3-4 outings, seemed way out of touch here. Neither the story made sense, nor was it appealing. And screenplay, Oh my God was it written by the same man who wrote a master piece like Angrej? or Love Punjab? Let us just consider it as a one off and move ahead because I have huge expectations from his next, Lahoriye.

Karaan Guliani made his debut as a director with Sarvann and it seemed that how shady a job he’s done here. The film was filled with so many amateurish sequences. Take the Dhabha scene for example. Another one being the whole plot of why Amrinder was living in another village when he had to go somewhere else. The whole chase of the taxi driver sequence and many more.

Coming to performances, Amrinder Gill delivers a half-hearted performance. It seemed that he knew mid-way through the film that it wasn’t working out and it was clear in his performance or shall I blame the poor direction. Simi Chahal looked cute. She has potential as an actress to become a genuine leading lady who can act well but she was wasted here. Ranjit Bawa made a forgettable debut. He clearly did not choose a meaty role to make his debut. Supporting cast had names like Gurmeet Sajan, Amberdeep Singh, Gurinder Makna, Sardar Sohi, Anita Meet & many more local actors from Canada. All of them delivered all right performances.

Music was by Jatinder Shah. It was a dissapointment. Ni Mainu & Dishaheen saved the grace but since the film had many big names like Amrinder Gill, Ranjit Bawa & Jatinder Shah attached to it. I expected a lot more.

Overall, Sarvann is an effort wasted big time. Sarvann carried a bag full of heavy expectations considering it had many many big names attached to it on as well as off the screen but it turned out to be a forgettable outing.
