Operation Sindoor: Preity Zinta Donates Rs 1.10 Crore to Support Army Families

Bollywood actor and co-owner of IPL franchise Punjab Kings, Preity Zinta, has donated a remarkable Rs 1.10 crore to the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) under the South Western Command of the Indian Army. The donation comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor, a humanitarian initiative launched after the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, and is aimed at assisting the Veer Naris (war widows) and their children.

Preity Zinta recently participated in a special AWWA event, where she interacted with families of Indian Army personnel, including the kin of fallen soldiers. She later shared a deeply emotional note on social media, recalling her experience of seeing posters of decorated soldiers, many of whom had laid down their lives in service to the nation.

“I was moved by the strength and dignity of these families,” she wrote, adding that their quiet resilience and unwavering pride left a lasting impression. “There were no tears, no complaints, just immense courage. It made me realize how often we overlook the silent sacrifices made by soldiers’ families.”

Explaining her motivation, Zinta described her donation as a “small token of gratitude” to the armed forces and their families. She emphasized that the contribution is intended to let them know they are not forgotten. “This is the least I can do to show respect and appreciation for those who defend our nation,” she said.

The donation is being made through the Punjab Kings’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund and will be used to empower war widows and fund the education of their children, ensuring long-term support for the families of India’s fallen heroes.

Zinta’s gesture has drawn widespread admiration across the country. On social media, fans and citizens praised her for using her platform to advocate for military families. Many lauded her empathy and her willingness to contribute meaningfully beyond symbolic support.
