Reports Claim Ammy Virk Was in Vehicle Targeted in Abbotsford Shooting; Police Yet to Confirm

Punjabi Mania cannot independently confirm whether Ammy Virk was inside the vehicle or personally targeted. Abbotsford Police have confirmed the shooting but have not named the singer in their public account.

Reports circulating in Punjabi-Canadian media and on social media claim that singer-actor Ammy Virk was among the occupants of a vehicle targeted in a shooting in Abbotsford, British Columbia, on Saturday night. Punjabi Mania has not independently confirmed Virk’s presence in the vehicle, and Abbotsford Police have not publicly identified its occupants.

Some of the online reporting goes further, claiming that Virk was travelling in the vehicle that came under fire. However, Punjabi Mania has not been able to independently verify that claim.

Crucially, the Abbotsford Police Department’s official public statement on the incident does not identify the occupants of the vehicle and does not mention Ammy Virk by name. For that reason, Punjabi Mania is treating the singer’s reported involvement as an unconfirmed claim rather than an established fact. 

What is being reported online

Canadian Punjabi publication Indo-Canadian Voice has reported, citing sources, that the vehicle was connected to a convoy associated with Virk following his September 5 performance.

Separately, Canadian Punjabi commentator Gurpreet S. Sahota stated on X that Virk himself was one of the occupants of the vehicle. Sahota described the vehicle as a Rolls-Royce Cullinan and said nobody inside was injured.

At this stage, those details remain reported claims rather than information publicly confirmed by investigators.

What can be independently established is that Virk was performing at Rogers Forum in Abbotsford on September 5, with the concert scheduled for 7:30 p.m. that evening. 

What police have confirmed

Abbotsford Police say officers were called shortly after 11 p.m. on September 5 after multiple shots were fired at a vehicle travelling in the 2500 block of McCallum Road.

According to the police account, occupants of a dark-coloured SUV fired at the other vehicle. No injuries were reported, and investigators said preliminary information suggested the incident was targeted.

Police have not publicly disclosed who was travelling in the vehicle or who they believe was the intended target.

A burning SUV was subsequently found nearby, and investigators have also been examining whether that vehicle was connected to the shooting.

The Major Crime Unit continues to investigate.

Given the seriousness of the allegations and the absence of an official identification of those involved, Punjabi Mania will not describe the incident as an “attack on Ammy Virk” unless that connection is confirmed by police, the singer or his representatives.
