Script Analysis:

Dheeraj Rattan, i always refer to him as ‘The man with a BLOCKBUSTER Pen’ and he truly deserves that after being the writer for various blockbusters like Jatt & Juliet, Dharti, Mel Karade Rabba and Jihne Mera Dil Lutiya. Coming back to DTKAP, frankly the story doesn’t go anywhere near to any of the previously mentioned films from Rattan. First things first, the story line is absolutely kiddish and weak. It doesn’t offer anything new for the viewers other than the lead actors. Also the film lacks comedy, which is an ‘Essential’ flavour in a Punjabi film if the makers want it to be anywhere near to be successful.

The screenplay is slow and amateurish. It doesn’t quite look as pleasing as one would have expected. Also a few sequences and the song towards the final moments (Party song) seems to be a bit dragging and looks like they have been inserted forcefully. Even the dialogues don’t have anything new to offer.

Star Performances:

Gulzar Chahal last seen in Yaara O Dildaara has grown up as an actor under the guidance of Harbhajan Maan. He is a man to watch out for the future. Debutante Neetu Singh seen in a few music videos previously didn’t impress at all with her acting. She lacks the flare which a Punjabi actress possesses be it a Neeru, Kulraj or Surveen. She needs to work harder if she is here to stay for a long innings.

Another Debutante Rohit Khurana was a treat to watch. Be it his role as a Cop or a romantic lover, he was fantastic as both. Others like Gurpreet Ghuggi, Kanwaljit Singh and B N Sharma were just about all right. Weren’t quite as impressive as they have been in the past.

Direction and Music:

Ajay’s debut as a director should be a forgettable experience for him. He didn’t quite get the scheme of things falling in his way. No doubt that he has tried his best to make a good film but sometimes things don’t go as supposed. He has great chances for improvements in future.

Music by Jaidev was strictly average. Babbu Maan’s track and Mahi Mahi by Feroz Khan were the only highlights from the album. Music has been an essential part in Punjabi films alongside comedy but here the flare was missing in possibly both the departments.

Final Say:

DTKAP is strictly an average affair. Debutante Rohit and Gulzar shine as actors and have a long way to go in the Industry but on the whole this film is a major disappointment.
