Sagar S. Sharma on Mitran Nu Shaunk Hathyaran Da:

Sagar S. Sharma on Mitran Nu Shaunk Hathyaran Da: The director of the upcoming Punjabi movie spoke enthusiastically about his project.

The rare genre of action in the Punjabi film industry will be touched upon once again on November 8 when director and producer Sagar S. Sharma’s ‘Mitran Nu Shaunk Hathyaran Da’ will hit the silver screens. Starring Deep Joshi, Preet Baath, Siddhi Ahuja, Kumar Ajay, Keetika Sharma and many others, the movie will highlight the impact of being fond of weapons.

In an exclusive interview with Punjabi Mania, director Sagar S Sharma talked in detail about how the movie was thought and eventually made. Being asked about the initial thought surrounding the movie, Sharma said that the subject has been picked from the prevailing culture in Punjab.

“A lot of people in not just Punjab but North India are fond of keeping weapons – both licensed and unlicensed. It is only after years that many individuals realize how costly their hobby turned out for everyone. Mitran Nu Shaunk Hathyaran Da will highlight the ramifications of what starts as pastime for some people but ends on a whole different road.

“It was [Kumar] Ajay bhaji’s thought that we should work on this subject. It was then that he started working on the script and dialogues. We both then jointly worked on the screenplay. We zeroed in on this title [Mitran Nu Shaunk Hathyaran Da] not just because of its popularity but also because our story bears a resemblance to the same,” Sharma was quoted as saying.

“Directing and producing the same movie wasn’t much of a concern”

In what will be Sharma’s second movie as a director this year. Apart from him, Mitran Nu Shaunk Hathyaran Da has been produced by Munna Shukul, Jayesh Patel, Shikha Sharma and Sanjiv Saini.

Playing the dual role of a director and producer, Sharma denied the two departments affecting each other. “Directing and producing the same movie wasn’t much of a concern. I am not the only one who is producing this movie. I must tell you that the other producers were highly supportive and didn’t let any burden fall on me.

“I had met them [Munna Shukul and Jayesh Patel from the Gujarati film industry] a few years ago and since then we were in talks regarding doing a Punjabi movie. When they got to know about this movie, they readily wanted to fund it. I told them about the budget and the scale of the movie but it didn’t unsettle them at all,” Sharma said.

“People watch all kinds of movies with their families”

Furthermore, Sharma also confirmed that actor Deep Joshi’s character will be abusing a lot in the movie. Unperturbed about the same in addition to the genre of the movie affecting the certificate issued by the censor board, Sharma believed his audiences to have matured and expected them to accept the movie as it is and watch it before coming to a conclusion.

“I don’t think the language of the movie will hamper it [in any way]. Almost our entire country watched ‘Kabir Singh’ recently. Was it not abusive? Was it not aggressive? I believe people have matured enough to watch such content. Contemporary people have made peace with watching all kinds of movies with their families.

“And it’s not that we are showing anything vulgar. Not many would admit but we all abuse under certain situations in our life. It’s the same in our movie. If you indulge in a fight on the road, you will abuse the other person. Won’t you? It’s something which people don’t confess but generally do,” Sharma added.

Laying confidence in the cast of the movie, Sharma was wax lyrical about how well the actors have worked in the movie. “I’m pretty satisfied with the cast of the movie and know that each one of them has done what was required of them. I am confident that Mitran Nu Shaunk Hathyaran Da has the potential to build the careers of the actors acting in it.

“Whatever is there in the movie, it is exactly how I wanted. Now if the movie doesn’t work, I will take full responsibility. I didn’t want to do anything against my gut and then repent at a later stage,” Sharma further said.

Stay tuned for the second part of the interview!
