Trailer Review: Kavi Raz's jumbled 'Kande'

As has been the inclination over the years, with the year entering into its second quarter, there is a shoot up in the number of the upcoming Punjabi movies. For some unusual reason, filmmakers in the Punjabi industry hesitate to release their movies in the first two months of the year. Now when the month of April is about to commence, more and more trailers of Punjabi movies are being released.

The latest one to join the list is Kavi Raz's 'Kande'. Having made 'The Black Prince' last year, Kavi Raz is entering into mainstream Punjabi cinema with Kande. The trailer of the movie was released yesterday on the official YouTube channel of Lokdhun Punjabi. At the time of writing this article, it has received around four and a half lakh views and is trending at #10 on the same platform.

Kande will mark the debut of Preet Baath and Kamal Virk in the Punjabi film industry. It also stars Yograj Singh, Sunita Dhir B.N. Sharma, Baaz, Jeet Rudka, Jobanpreet Singh, Gurpreet Bhangu, Simran Sehjpal, Arvinder Bhatti and Bittu Bajwa.

The complexity of the trailer of the movie makes it unclear for a viewer to get a general understanding of the facets which the movie will cover. The trailer starts with the scene of a Kabaddi match, which seems to have a minimal impact on the movie. What follows next are some failed attempts of comedy punches, scenes which are perhaps kept to get the movie-going.

Yograj Singh happens to the trailer to provide it some stability. His negative shade is undeniably impressive. For now, his character appears to be the sole bright light in the movie. Whether too much emphasis has been laid on him and his dreading dialogues, only time will tell.

After watching the trailer, it is evident enough that the movie will touch down on the issue of drug abuse in Punjab and display the extent to which a drug addict can go in a bid to fulfill his fondness. Overall, the trailer moves from situation to situation, giving a glimpse of several stories, but fails to provide anything concrete.
