Treating roles equally key behind Amrinder Gill’s recent success: The super-hit actor has been exemplary at accepting supporting roles gleefully of late.

The last time Amrinder Gill didn’t had a release throughout a year was in 2011. Since then, the esteemed actor has featured in at least one movie per year. The latest of them being Sukh Sanghera’s Laiye Je Yaarian‘, which had released earlier this week.

The movie saw Gill in his third non-lead role in as many years. The fact that he agreed to feature in the last three of his four movies as a non-lead actor speaks highly of him and his approach towards profound roles.

In times when lead actors look down at bits and pieces roles which don’t revolve around them on the celluloid, Gill doing the same tells why script/role/character seems to be more important for him. From Subeh in Ksshitj Chaudhary’s Vekh Baraatan Challiyan (2017) to Bhola in Chaudhary’s Golak Bugni Bank Te Batua‘ (2018) to Garry Randhawa in Laiye Je Yaarian, Gill hasn’t shied away from not doing supporting roles behind Binnu Dhillon and Harish Verma (twice).

Albeit being shorter in length, Gill’s character in all the three movies formed the pith of the movie. In all the three movies, Gill was seen having a past whose ramifications were shown during the climax.

As an A-list actor in any film industry, one thinks of both doing and ignoring certain kinds of roles. To be fair on other actors of Gill’s stature in the Punjabi film industry, doing the above mentioned (at times) becomes necessary for people don’t expect you to be doing roles with lesser importance on the screen.

Gill doing the same and still being fondly liked by audiences in both Punjab and overseas depict how audiences’ perception can be changed. Gill, who has on multiple occasions given hints of being a private person when not in from of the camera, appears to be unperturbed by the length of roles.

Him treating all roles equally has made him an exemplary figure in the Punjabi film industry. While he started a trend of periodic movies post Simerjit Singh’s Angrej‘, him continually believing in solid supporting roles might just inspire other leading Punjabi actors to filter roles by quality and not length.
