The next turn into Punjabi Cinema is of a young and beautiful, 5’6” tall Yamini Malhotra who is going to enter into the film industry very soon. Charming face is what she owns. Born in the Capital city New Delhi, we caught up with Yamini Malhotra who makes her debut with Punjabi flick ‘Main Teri Tu Mera’ releasing on August 19.

Yamini is a doctor having pursued her education from Lucknow – The City of Nawabs. She spent 5 years there and is a qualified doctor. And besides working in Punjabi Cinema she is also pursing her career as an actress in South Indian film. She is doing a Telugu film there.

Yamini always had an inclination towards acting and represented her school and college in numerous drama competititons to make which made her happy. Briefing about her background she says, “Though sound academically I have always had an inclination towards acting. My family has been very supportive to me and have encouraged me to make a balance between both my profession and my passion and this year has been going pretty good for me as I am making my debut in both Punjabi Cinema and Tollywood.”

About the role in her debut Punjabi movie Yamini reveals to Punjabi Mania, “I am playing the character of Kammo in the film. She is a strong willed girl who has experienced lot of ups and downs in her life but she still has a positive approach towards life and doesn’t stop from being hopeful. I could completely relate with her to myself as she posseses same qualities like me. She values her parents happiness just like I do. She respects relationships, believes in God and has a positive approach towards life. She is simple and innocent punjabi girl with whom the punjabi audience could relate as their own daughter or sister.”

Yamini also shared how she bagged the role of Kammo. Throwing some light about that she said, “Director Ksshitij Chaudhary was looking for a simple and innocent punjabi girl with whom the punjabi audience could relate as their own daughter or sister. When Ksshitij sir met me, he had just one line to say – ‘You are Kammo’. I would thank the director of movie Kshitij Chaudhary. I feel lucky that my first movie has been directed by a fantastic director Ksshitij Chaudhary. He has perfect sense of what all ingredients are required to make a good movie. Also it’s my honor to share the screen with punjabi heart throb Roshan Prince.”

Speaking about her experience of working in a Punjabi film, Yamini had some good things to say about Punjabi Cinema. She said, “I could not have made a better debut in punjabi industry than main teri tu mera. It has been a wonderful experience and I am really hopeful that punjabi audience will love me like their own daughter. It was like a family atmosphere on the sets when we were shooting. I really enjoyed a lot.”
