Sonia Kour reveals reason behind absence: The Nikka Zaildar actress opened up on her absence and comeback into the franchise.

Having made her acting debut in ‘Once Upon a Time in Amritsar’ (2016), Sonia Kour did her second movie titled ‘Nikka Zaildar’ the same year. Sonia had played the character of Manraj’s (Sonam Bajwa) sister Seerat in the movie.

With her third movie titled ‘Nikka Zaildar 3’ slated to release on September 20, Sonia Kour explains how her character will be in Punjabi industry’s first triquel. It was during an interview with Punjabi Mania that Sonia also put light on her preparation for her role.

“You will see shades of Seerat in my character (named Dimple) in Nikka Zaildar 3. The twist in the movie lies in my character. It’s a much more power-packed and performance-based role. I was told before the movie that if I do justice with this role, then door will open for me in the Punjabi industry.

“I took that challenge. Did some homework. I don’t know how it will look on-screen but I prepared a lot for this role. Our director Simerjit [Singh] sir narrated the movie in a brilliant way to me. He was clear with what was required of me,” Sonia was quoted as saying.

Being asked about working with the likes of Ammy Virk, Nirmal Rishi, Karamjit Anmol and Wamiqa Gabbi, Sonia admitted to having learnt a lot from the more experienced actors. While Sonia talked about her absence from the industry, she didn’t hesitate from disclosing her role in the second part in a surprising revelation.

“They [co-actors of Nikka Zaildar series] are all very experienced. I’ll tell you a fact. I did Nikka Zaildar and now Nikka 3 is coming after a three-year gap. It was my personal decision to not work as an actress in this period. There were a lot of projects offered but I refused them because I wanted to learn first. I felt the necessity to learn more if I want to work in movies.

“[However] I wasn’t away from the industry. I worked as a assistant director [to Simerjit Singh] in Nikka 2. I was on set for 20 days. I used to watch how Ammy [Virk], Wamiqa [Gabbi], Sonam [Bajwa], Nirmal Rishi ji acted and observed them from different angles,” Sonia said. Watch the full interview below:
