Dev Kharoud and Anchal Singh’s action thriller ‘Zakhmi’ is all set to hit the silver screens on 7 February 2020. Produced under the banner of Binnu Dhillon Productions and Omjee Star Studios, the film has been directed by the popular writer of the industry- Inderpal Singh. 

‘Zakhmi’ will mark Inderpal Singh’s directorial debut in the industry. In an exclusive chat with Punjabi Mania, Inderpal Singh shared his experience of working on this film and shares some important details about the movie.

Q1. Tell us something about ‘Zakhmi’.

Zakhmi is basically a story of a middle class family man, who emerges out as a hero when he faces some extraordinary situations. He fights for his family and for the right and the movie will show that how a common man can go to any level for protecting his family and child.

Q2. This is your debut in the field of mainstream direction, how was your experience ?

It was my dream from the beginning to become a director and I entered into the field of film writing to achieve this. When I recieved a call from Binnu sir, it was like a dream come true for me to work with such reputed banners. We had taken dates from Dev Kharoud for another project which has been shelved for now, so in order to make use of that time, we decided to work on ‘Zakhmi’. Even though this is my directorial debut in the mainstream cinema, but I have done a lot of independent cinema which has really helped me in this film. I had a great time doing this movie and it is very close to my heart.

Q3. How was experience of working with Dev Kharoud once again in this movie?

Other than the professional bond, Dev and I also share a great personal relation and we have worked together in many projects. We are extremely comfortable and open with each other. It is always a great experience working with Dev and we also had a lot fun while working together in this film.

Q4. What kind of role will we see- Anchal Singh playing in the movie?

In all the Dev Kharoud films, we face this complaint that the female leads have negligible roles in the plot of the movie. But in contrast to this, ‘Zakhmi’ is about a family man, where the female lead has a very significant role and will emerge out as a strong character. It is Anchal Singh’s debut and she has given an amazing performance. The audience will see growth in her character from a college girl to a wife to mother. She will be seen playing a good role in the film.

Q5. What is the USP of ‘Zakhmi’?

Zakhmi is a blend of romance, action, comedy and drama. We have tried to put all the elements together in the movie, to make it a complete entertainer. The USP of the movie will definitely be its action and the beautiful story.

Q6. Tell us the significance of the title of the film.

The title ‘Zakhmi’ does not mean physically wounded here, it means mentally and emotionally ‘hurt’. The story is about a person who faces such incidents in his life that he gets deeply hurt. This is how the movie gets its name.

Q7. The team had earlier announced one more film- ‘Bomb Jigra’. When will we see that film on the floors?

Yes, Bomb Jigra is a separate project and has been shelved for now. The movie had to be shot in the UK, but due to some difficulties the project is shelved for some time. So meanwhile we decided to make a film in India and came up with the idea of ‘Zakhmi’.

Q8. Will we see you directing more films in the future?

Yes, definitely I will be directing more films in the future as it is my passion. Also I’m working on some projects, and will announce them soon.

Q9. The film is nearing its release date, what are your feelings about the same?

I’m excited, happy as well as nervous. This movie is very important for me and I want it to get immense love and appreciation from the audience. I’m praying for the same.
