Mohali: Punjabi cinema and comedy lost one of its brightest stars as thousands gathered in Mohali today for the last rites of Jaswinder Bhalla, fondly known as the “King of Punjabi Comedy.” His mortal remains, brought from Fortis Hospital, were kept at his residence for final viewing before cremation.
Emotions ran high as family members, colleagues, and fans assembled to offer their respects. Outside his home, people stood in long queues for a glimpse of the beloved actor, whose humor had brought joy to countless lives.
Well-known personalities from the film industry, including actress Neeru Bajwa and singer-actress Amar Noori, joined the mourners. Political leaders and admirers from across Punjab also made their way to Mohali to extend condolences.
Bhalla, who passed away on Friday following a brain stroke at the age of 65, was born in Doraha, Ludhiana district. Over the years, he carved a special place in Punjabi cinema with his sharp wit, relatable characters, and unique comic timing.
As the day of his cremation arrives, the outpouring of grief reflects the deep impact he made not just on the industry, but on everyday audiences who grew up watching him.
