Panic gripped an upscale locality of Gurugram early this morning when unidentified assailants opened fire outside the residence of popular YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav.
According to police, the incident took place between 5:30 and 6 am in Sector 56 when three men arrived on a motorcycle. Two of them allegedly fired around a dozen rounds at the house before fleeing the scene.
Although members of Yadav’s family and a caretaker were inside the house at the time, no one was injured. Elvish himself was away at work outside Haryana. The gunshots struck the ground and first floors, while Yadav’s living quarters are located on the upper levels.
Soon after the incident, the Himanshu Bhau gang claimed responsibility through a social media post, accusing the YouTuber of promoting gambling activities. The gang also issued a stark warning, stating that “those who encourage gambling should be ready for a call or a bullet.” The claim was accompanied by an image of pistols.
Elvish’s father, Ramavtar Yadav, expressed shock over the episode, denying any involvement of his son in gambling promotion. “I was asleep when it happened. Around 25 to 30 rounds were fired. Elvish never received any threat calls. CCTV shows three men on a bike, with two at the gate,” he told reporters.
Police officials reached the spot shortly after the incident, collected forensic evidence, and are now scanning CCTV footage from surrounding areas. Authorities said further action will follow once a formal complaint is lodged by the family.
This latest attack comes amid a string of similar incidents in the region. Just last month, Haryanvi singer Fazilpuria’s car was fired upon, though he escaped unharmed. Days earlier, his associate Rohit Shaukeen was gunned down in broad daylight, a crime for which the same gang had taken credit.
The incident has heightened security concerns around celebrities in Haryana and neighbouring states, with police saying they are working to track down the attackers.
