Actor Karan Deol has begun the final leg of shooting for his upcoming film 1947 Lahore in Amritsar, with key scenes being filmed at the historic Khalsa College. The actor took to social media to share behind-the-scenes images from the location, with the college’s grand Indo-Saracenic architecture providing a fitting backdrop for the period drama.
The film, directed by veteran filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan, is set during the emotionally charged days of India’s Partition. It promises to portray the turmoil, sacrifices, and human stories woven into the events of 1947.
Khalsa College, already a popular filming destination known for its role in movies like Veer-Zaara, has once again attracted a major production. The visuals shared by Karan give fans an early peek into the atmosphere and tone of the film, which aims to recreate an era of deep upheaval and resilience.
Adding to the excitement is the fact that 1947 Lahore will see Karan Deol sharing screen space with his father, Sunny Deol, for the first time. The collaboration between the father-son duo is being eagerly awaited by fans of both actors.
Sources close to the production revealed that the Amritsar schedule will run for about two weeks, after which the film will move into post-production. The team is aiming for a theatrical release in early 2026.
While details of the storyline remain under wraps, the title and setting hint at a narrative rooted in the emotional complexities of the Partition — a subject Rajkumar Santoshi has explored in different shades in the past.
With a powerful creative team and a historical backdrop, 1947 Lahore is shaping up to be a significant addition to Bollywood’s legacy of period dramas.
