Salman Khan’s Security Tightened on Bigg Boss 19 Amid Death Threats; Live Audience Barred During Host's Presence

Security protocols on the set of Bigg Boss 19 have been dramatically escalated amid ongoing death threats against Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. The producers have implemented stringent measures to ensure the safety of the show's long-time host, including a complete ban on live audiences during his on-set appearances.

The move marks a significant shift from the show's usual format, where live audiences played a major role in weekend episodes hosted by Khan. The decision comes after continued threats targeting the actor over the past few years, prompting production house Endemol Shine India to work closely with law enforcement and private security agencies.

Behind the Scenes: An Unprecedented Security Operation

The Bigg Boss set, which operates nearly 24/7 with around 600 crew members working in three shifts, now functions under tight surveillance. According to sources close to the production, all staff — from senior crew to vendors and temporary workers — are subject to mandatory background verification. Entry and exit points are heavily monitored, and unauthorized access is strictly prohibited.

While the show's format remains unchanged for viewers at home, the energy on set is reportedly more controlled and restricted. A source involved in the production shared, “Security has been a priority for a while now, but this season the protocols are at an all-time high. No one comes near Salman sir without clearance.”

Ongoing Threats and Long-Term Precautions

Salman Khan has been under heightened security cover for more than two years following multiple credible threats to his life. As a result, the actor has maintained a low public profile outside of his film and television commitments.

The actor was recently issued Y+ security status by Indian authorities, which includes armed guards, escort vehicles, and round-the-clock surveillance. The Bigg Boss production team has mirrored this level of caution on-set, with collaboration from local police and anti-terrorism units when necessary.

Audience-Free Filming: A Big Change for Bigg Boss

One of the most notable changes for Bigg Boss 19 is the absence of a live audience during Weekend Ka Vaar episodes, a long-standing tradition where Salman interacts directly with contestants and fans.

“While it was a difficult decision from a production and creative standpoint, the safety of the host comes first,” said a member of the show's executive team. “Fans may miss the usual cheers and live reactions, but it’s a small price to pay under the current circumstances.”

Industry Reacts with Support

Several Bollywood personalities have voiced their support for the tightened security, acknowledging the growing concern over celebrity safety in recent times.

Filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala, a close friend of Khan, commented, “It’s unfortunate that an artist has to perform under such conditions, but necessary steps must be taken. Salman has always connected deeply with his audience, and he’ll continue to do so — safely.”
