Actor Shilpa Shetty and her husband, entrepreneur Raj Kundra, have publicly responded to reports linking them to a Rs 60 crore fraud case, firmly rejecting all accusations. The couple issued a clarification after news emerged that an FIR had been registered by Mumbai Police, reportedly invoking Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to cheating.
In a statement shared on social media, Kundra described the allegations as “baseless” and driven by ulterior motives. He stressed that the matter is already under judicial consideration and accused certain sections of portraying a civil dispute as a criminal offence without sufficient grounds.
“We categorically deny the baseless and motivated allegations being circulated,” the statement said. “The issues being highlighted are being unnecessarily given a criminal colour without any lawful basis.”
Kundra further confirmed that a petition seeking to quash the case has been filed before the High Court and is currently awaiting a decision. He added that both he and Shetty are confident that the legal process will clarify the situation.
The statement marks the first formal response from the couple since reports of the FIR surfaced. While details of the alleged fraud have not been fully disclosed, the development has drawn significant public attention due to the high-profile names involved.
Legal proceedings in the matter are ongoing, and the couple has urged restraint and responsibility in reporting until the court delivers its verdict.
