AP Dhillon on Concerts in India: The ongoing tension between Punjabi music sensations AP Dhillon and Diljit Dosanjh has taken a new turn, with Dhillon making comments that seemingly target Dosanjh’s concert ticketing practices. Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Dhillon criticized the marketing strategies behind claims that tickets sell out in mere seconds, including those for Dosanjh’s high-profile Dil-Luminati tour. While Dhillon did not mention Dosanjh directly, his remarks were seen as an indirect accusation of unfair treatment toward fans.
"It’s a Marketing Strategy, Not Reality": AP Dhillon
Dhillon highlighted a common practice in the industry where artists pre-sell tickets to promoters, leading fans to purchase them later at inflated prices. He said,
"India mein abhi crisis aa jayega agar isi hisab se chalta raha. Artists are being unfair with their own fans, claiming shows sell out in 15 seconds. Kuchh bhi sell out nahi hua hai. It’s all marketing. Promoters ko ticket de dete hain. Fans ko higher price mein ticket lena padta hai."
The singer admitted that he had considered adopting this approach but ultimately refrained, citing his conscience. “We thought about it at one point, but I couldn’t go to bed knowing we exploited our fans who genuinely wanted to attend our shows,” he shared.
Dhillon criticized the trend further, saying, “Any so-called sold-out show—tell me you need 2,000 tickets, I can arrange them today or tomorrow. Music is being treated like a game, and the joy of it is being ruined.”
A "Dirty Game" in the Industry
Describing the practice as a “dirty game,” Dhillon expressed his support for fans, arguing that they deserve fair access to tickets at reasonable prices. He urged artists, especially those with significant influence, to avoid such tactics.
A Tumultuous Relationship with Diljit Dosanjh
The friction between Dhillon and Dosanjh isn’t new. The feud escalated earlier this year when Diljit acknowledged AP Dhillon and Karan Aujla during a concert in Indore. Dhillon responded at his Chandigarh show, asking Dosanjh to unblock him on Instagram and offering congratulations.
Dosanjh subsequently posted screenshots claiming he had never blocked Dhillon, only for Dhillon to share a “before and after” video, alleging that the GOAT singer had indeed blocked and later unblocked him.
As Diljit’s Dil-Luminati tour wraps up in Ludhiana on December 31, reports suggest tickets for the final show were also sold out within seconds, adding fuel to the controversy.
