Indian rapper Badshah has issued a public apology after facing legal trouble over his recently released Haryanvi song “Tateeree.” The track, which came out around March 1, 2026, has sparked widespread criticism and led to the registration of an FIR as authorities investigate complaints about its content.

The controversy began after several individuals and groups raised objections to the song’s lyrics and visuals. Critics claimed that certain portions of the track, as well as scenes featured in the music video, were inappropriate and offensive. In particular, some visuals allegedly depicting schoolgirls in uniforms were criticised for being indecent and for portraying women and minors in a disrespectful manner. Many complainants argued that the content could negatively influence young audiences and does not align with cultural and social values.

Following these complaints, the matter reached the Haryana State Commission for Women, which took cognisance of the issue and summoned the rapper for questioning. An FIR was subsequently registered at the cybercrime police station in Panchkula, and officials began reviewing the allegations in detail. The commission has scheduled a hearing in Panipat on March 13 to further examine the case.

Amid the growing controversy, Badshah released a statement addressing the issue and clarifying his intentions. The rapper, who hails from Haryana, said he never intended to offend anyone through the song. He emphasised that he takes pride in his roots and has consistently tried to highlight the culture and spirit of the state through his music.

In his statement, Badshah said he holds deep respect for women, children, and students and would never intentionally create content that disrespects them or harms the community. However, he added that if the song or its visuals unintentionally hurt people’s sentiments, he sincerely regrets it.

Meanwhile, the music video for “Tateeree,” which featured vocalist Simran Jaglan, has reportedly been removed from YouTube following the backlash and ongoing investigation.

Authorities are continuing to review the matter, and the outcome will depend on the findings presented during the upcoming hearing. Until then, the case remains under scrutiny as officials assess whether the song violates legal or cultural guidelines.
