Chandigarh: After days of uncertainty surrounding its certification, Punjabi film Dastaar has officially received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), paving the way for its scheduled theatrical release on July 17. The announcement was made by the film’s makers, White Hill Studios, through an official statement on Wednesday.
Expressing gratitude to audiences for their continued support and patience, the production house confirmed that the film has now been granted its censor certificate and will release as planned in cinemas across India and international markets.
The statement thanked viewers for the love, encouragement and blessings extended to the project throughout its journey. The makers said they were delighted to announce that Dastaar had successfully completed the certification process and was now ready to reach audiences worldwide.
The confirmation comes after speculation over the film’s release gathered momentum as the project had completed its screening before the CBFC but had not received certification until now. With only a day remaining before its scheduled release, concerns had been raised within the Punjabi film industry and among moviegoers regarding the delay.
The issue had also reignited discussions over the certification process for Punjabi films, particularly those exploring Punjab’s history, culture and Sikh identity. The recent delay involving Dastaar followed a similar situation faced by Diljit Dosanjh’s Satluj (previously titled Punjab 95), which had also awaited CBFC clearance.
However, the makers’ latest announcement has ended the uncertainty surrounding Dastaar. Along with confirming the censor approval, White Hill Studios reiterated that the film will release in cinemas on July 17, thanking audiences for standing by the team throughout the process.
With the certification now in place, Dastaar is set to arrive in theatres as scheduled, bringing an end to weeks of anticipation over its release.
