Emraan Hashmi Diagnosed With Swine Flu

Mumbai: Actor Emraan Hashmi has been diagnosed with swine flu, even as his latest film ‘Awarapan 2’ continues to draw audiences to theatres and has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office.

The actor’s diagnosis was confirmed by his representative, with his medical report serving as confirmation, a report stated. Hashmi is currently recuperating as he deals with the illness.

The development comes amid reports of increased H1N1 infections in cities including Delhi and Mumbai during the monsoon season. Health experts have noted that symptoms of swine flu can initially resemble those of a common viral infection, making early identification difficult.

H1N1 can cause symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, body ache, fatigue and a runny nose. However, persistent or worsening symptoms, particularly breathing difficulties, chest pain, a severe cough or unusual drowsiness, may require prompt medical attention.

While many viral illnesses improve within a few days with adequate rest and fluids, patients whose symptoms continue to worsen or whose fever does not respond to routine treatment should seek medical advice and undergo appropriate testing.

‘Awarapan 2’ maintains box office momentum

Meanwhile, Hashmi’s professional front remains strong. His film ‘Awarapan 2’, which also features Disha Patani, Puran Gabbi and Shabana Azmi, has continued its successful theatrical run and has reportedly collected more than ?200 crore.

The film has also drawn attention for its nostalgic connection to the crime-thriller era associated with Vishesh Films, particularly films from the 2000s that featured Hashmi in prominent roles and became known for their music.

Despite his health setback, the actor has reason to remain encouraged by the response to his latest release. For now, his focus is on recovering from swine flu while the film continues to perform at the box office.
