Imtiaz Ali recently shared his experience of approaching Diljit Dosanjh for the lead role in his film Amar Singh Chamkila. 

Imtiaz revealed that when he presented the story to Diljit, the actor informed him that he had already worked on a film inspired by Chamkila's life, titled Jodi.

During their conversation, Diljit made Imtiaz watch portions of Jodi, a 2023 period film. Imtiaz recounted Diljit's response, saying, "Strangely, when I went to tell him the story of Chamkila, he was like, 'Look sir, if you want me to do this film, I am on it... but let me tell you the story of Jodi and you see whether you want to take me because this I have already done.'"

This moment highlights Diljit's integrity and professionalism, as he ensured that Imtiaz was fully aware of his previous work before committing to the project.
