Synopsis: Sardaar Ji is the story of Jaggi (Diljit Dosanjh) who is a famous Ghostbuster in Samrala. He is called to London to capture a lady ghost Pinky (Neeru Bajwa) who has captured a castle. Jaggi meets Pinky – the ghost and falls in love with her. Jaggi wants Pinky out of the castle but she demands to meet Jasleen (Mandy Takhar) who is a salsa dance trainer living in London. This is what forms the baseline of the film. Why does Pinky want to meet Jasleen? Who gets Jaggi in the end? To find the answers to these questions you will have to see the film.
Review: Director Rohit Jugraj who entertained us last year with Jatt James Bond is back again with Sardaar Ji. This time he teams up with actor Diljit Dosanjh for this film. Rohit is a director who has a lot of potential in him but it somehow lacked in the film. The first half was filled with comedy was enjoyable. Some of the moments were epic. But in the second half, the director seemed to have lost track of the plot and that is where the things went haywire.
Not only the director, but the credit for this mishap also goes to the writer. Dheeraj Rattan, the man who ‘once had a blockbuster pen’ seems to have lost it somewhere and he needs to find it soon before the time runs out. The story – well I couldn’t find any. If someone has found it, please let me know. The screenplay was alike the story. Just a compilation of few funny moments, add to it a few peppy and romantic Diljit songs, put some romance in the air – well that’s bound to happen with Diljit and Neeru around. The only good thing in the writing part were the dialogues. Jatinder Lal and Balraj Syal have done a good job at the dialogues and brought some freshness here in the punches.
Coming to performances, Sardaar Ji rests completely on the shoulders of one man – DILJIT DOSANJH. This man knows how to make people laugh. He is an entertainer and now looks like a complete and polished actor. There is no match to his comic timing and add to it the funny expressions – you get a complete performance. Neeru Bajwa, well I haven’t seen a gorgeous and lovely ghost than Neeru before. I would have loved to see more of Neeru in the second half. Neeru and Diljit really rock together. Mandy Takhar has done justice to her part and played it well. Jaswinder Bhalla, although under utilised here but has his fair share of funny moments. Watching him and Diljit on screen together is always a pleasure to watch. Rest of the supporting cast is pretty unknown and have done a fair job. The support cast here was not needed as the film revolved around 3 principle characters.
Music is done by Jatinder Shah and Nick Dhammu. The tracks are not as big blockbusters as one would have expected but Veer Vaar and Taare are my favourites from the album. Also Roku Keda and Time are also good to hear in the short run.
Final Say: Sardaar Ji is a film which has some good performances and an entertaining first half. But the film falls flat in the second half which now a days is known as the business end of the film. Out of the 2 stars, one of them is for Diljit.
