Priyanka Chopra’s production house Purple Pebble Pictures has announced its plans for producing films for the regional cinema. The production house will produce three films this year in Punjabi, Bhojpuri and Marathi.
“Today entertainment has a wide canvas which is not restricted by language or medium. At Purple Pebble Pictures, we are aspiring to erase boundaries and create an environment where the content of the story is the hero,” Priyanka said in a statement.
The Punjabi film produced by the production house is titled, Ek Onkar. The film revolves around an NRI who returns to his motherland to find his roots. The film is written by Amberdeep Singh and directed by Karan Guliani. Though nothing has been revealed about the cast, it is said that a leading actor will be playing the role of NRI. Punjabi Mania speculates it to be Amrinder Gill, though we have not got it confirmed.
The shooting of Ek Onkar is expected to start in March and the film will be released around Guru Nanak Jayanti later this year.
The production house will also produce “Bam Bam Bol Raha Hai Kashi” (Bhojpuri) and “Ventilator” (Marathi).
