Sunny Hindustani from Bathinda won the Indian Idol trophy and millions of hearts

Punjab is a land of music and talent. Punjabi music and singers are not just loved by the Punjabi audience, but are loved and appreciated by the audience throughout the length and breadth of the country.

In today’s time, the talented Punjabi artists have shattered all boundaries and have not only made their place in Bollywood, but also they have secured a place in the hearts of the audience.

The recent example of the same is Sunny Punjabi who is a simple boy from Punjab, who secured the first position in Indian Idol 11, which is the top singing reality show of the country. Sunny Punjabi who belongs to Bathinda city of Punjab, and belongs to a very simple family, won millions of hearts with his melifluent singing in the show.

He was showered with immense appreciation from the judges and the viewers and won the show by receiving the majority votes from every nook and corner of the nation.Despite of not having any formal training, Sunny managed to strum the heartstrings of the audience with his mesmerizing voice.

Before entering the show, Sunny earned his living by polishing shoes in Amarpura Basti in Bathinda. This show came as a life turning experience for him. Besides bagging the trophy, Sunny even took home a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh. 

This is not the first time that Punjabi singers have gained popularity through television singing reality shows. In the past also, we have witnessed many talented singers from Punjab, who made it big on such singing reality shows. A few recent examples include the winner of Rising Star Season 1- Bannet Dosanjh from Jalandhar, the first runner up of Rising Star Season 2- Rohanpreet Singh from Patiala and the winner of Rising Star Season 3- Aftab Singh from Faridkot.

The television singing reality shows play a very big role in searching hidden talent and giving a boost to talented budding singers. The recent victory of Sunny Hindustani is a true example of this. It is clear that after this win, the singer will be showered with many opportunities and it would be interesting to see the projects that he takes up.
