A local court today issued notice to Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal, acting on a petition that accused him of threatening an advertisement firm manager.
The actor has been asked to file a reply by September 9.
A criminal complaint seeking registration of a case of fraud and forgery has been filed against Grewal earlier this week. The complaint has been admitted in the court.
The complaint was filed by Sector 26-based Aman Advertisement through its director, Raman Aggarwal.
The complaint, which was filed through advocate Arvind Thakur, alleged that in February this year, Gippy Grewal agreed to pay Rs 7 lakh to the firm for promoting the film “Jatt James Bond”.
While Rs 2 lakh were given at that time, it was decided that the rest of the amount would be given by Garish, a resident of Barnala, who has also been made party in the complaint.
When the complainant requested Gippy to pay the remaining Rs 5 lakh, he issued a cheque, which allegedly was dishonoured on May 24 and July 2.
The manager of the advertisement firm today told the court that Gippy Grewal used to threaten him when he used to ask for the remaining amount. A voice recording in which Gippy allegedly threatens the manager and the text of a threatening SMS have been submitted in the court.
