Kangana Ranaut has spoken out about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent meeting with actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh, addressing online chatter that the interaction might have upset her. The actress, who is promoting her latest release Emergency, shared her perspective during an interview with Shubhankar Mishra.
Kangana, when asked about PM Modi’s meeting with Diljit, highlighted his involvement during the farmers' protests. “He was the main person. He was at the forefront of saving them, to supporting them during the farmers' movement. Those who were creating a ruckus, he was at the forefront to save them,” she remarked.
When questioned about her own aspirations to meet the Prime Minister, Kangana responded with her characteristic candor. “Why should I be ashamed? I don’t feel embarrassed that the PM met Diljit and not me. For him, every citizen is equal,” she said. Kangana went on to reveal that while she has not had a chance for a direct conversation with Modi, she remains an admirer of his leadership. “The truth is, I’ve never had the privilege of meeting him properly. Perhaps once I said namaste, but that’s all,” she explained.
The actress also shared her desire to engage in a meaningful dialogue with Modi. “You know, I am a big fan of the Prime Minister. I would love to talk to him, exchange notes, and understand his thoughts on art,” she added.
Kangana acknowledged that several of her friends, including lyricist Manoj Muntashir and actor Anupam Kher, have had the opportunity to meet Modi and discuss various topics, which she hopes to do in the future.
The meeting between PM Modi and Diljit Dosanjh during the New Year festivities created a buzz, especially with Diljit praising the Prime Minister's leadership and Modi commending Diljit for leaving a mark wherever he goes. The meeting also led to light-hearted digs online, with some suggesting Kangana might be upset by the interaction.
Meanwhile, Kangana remains focused on promoting her film Emergency, where she portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The political drama has already garnered significant attention and sparked discussions, much like the actress herself.
