Sardaarji 2 opened yesterday in Cinemas worldwide and the film has created a havoc at the box office worldwide. Sardaarji 2 smashed all box office records for Punjabi films on Opening Day beating the records of Sardaarji which released last year. Last year, Sardaarji faced no competition at all from other film whereas this time 7 new Hindi films and 1 Hollywood film released alongside and many films continued from previous weeks. Despite facing the competition, Sardaarji 2 managed to hold fort and set the record though by a very minute margin.
Another factor for this could be the lesser growth of screens last year in East Punjab as compared to some of the previous years where screens in Punjab grew rapidly thanks to the multiplexes.

- Punjab 1984 Rs. 1.02 Crores (June 27, 2014)
- Love Punjab Rs. 90 Lacs (March 11, 2016)
- Goreyan Nu Daffa Karo Rs. 79 Lacs(September 12, 2014)
- Jatt & Juliet Rs. 77 Lacs (June 29, 2012)
The occupancy was fantastic in East Punjab and Delhi city. It was the highest of the year and no Hindi or English film has recorded higher occupancy in East Punjab and Delhi city than Sardaarji 2 be it Udta Punjab, Fan, Housefull 3 or The Jungle Book.
Seven out of Top 10 initials are all Diljit Dosanjh starrers which is unbelievable and has probably never happenned in any industry before. The other 3 in Top 10 are held by Amrinder Gill leaving no spot for Gippy Grewal in Top 10 with Jatt James Bond now moving to No. 11 slot.
