Why Parmish Verma and Sonam Bajwa-starer Singham should be watched in cinemas on August 9

Parmish Verma and Sonam Bajwa-starer Singham: The Punjabi remake of super-hit Hindi movie has it in it to be watched in cinemas.

From an intriguing comeback to things happening for the first time on-screen, the Punjabi remake of super-hit Hindi movie titled ‘Singham’ seems to have something or the other for everyone. Slated to release on Friday (August 9), Singham seems to have the potential of changing perceptions in the Punjabi film industry.

Given the acceptance of the action genre in our industry, a brand as grand as Singham might entice people to the cinema halls on this Friday. In the general run of things, people might have avoided such a movie but the success of the Hindi movie should come in rescue for its remake as well.

The trailer of the movie was released nearly four weeks ago on the official YouTube channel of T-Series. At the time of writing this article, it has received in excess of 3.5 million views on the same platform.

Parmish Verma and Sonam Bajwa-starer Singham

Parmish Verma, who doubtlessly has one of the best fan-followings in Punjab, will be seen as Singham in the movie. Sonam Bajwa, who is yet to feature in a flop venture in her 10-movie career, will be seen playing the lead role opposite Verma.

Kartar Cheema, whose career has revived to a great extent since Rakesh Mehta’s ‘Rang Punjab’ last year, will be seen playing the villain in Singham. Given the fresh nature of the trio working together for the first time, Singham won’t follow the usual tried and tested names of our industry.

Going by recent form, all of Verma, Bajwa and Cheema have been part of successful and appreciative projects this year. Their success spree might just get enhanced upon the release of this movie.

Director Navaniat Singh makes a comeback

Another major reason to watch the movie is the comeback of director Navaniat Singh in the Punjabi film industry. Having last directed Shareek‘ (2015), Navaniat will release a Punjabi movie after as many as four years. Having delivered successful projects like ‘Tera Mera Ki Rishta’, ‘Mel Karade Rabba’, ‘Singh vs Kaur’ and others, a lot is being expected from the director this time around.

Perhaps, Navaniat was waiting for a meatier project like Singham to come back to Punjab. Having made his Bollywood debut as a director in this four-year gap, it would only be fair to expect more from Navaniat Singh. Therefore, don’t hesitate in visiting the cinema halls and don’t forget to share your views about the movie in out comments section.
