Harjeeta was based on the real life story of Hockey player Harjeet Singh, who rose from an economically weaker background to lead the Indian Hockey team to victory in the U-19 Hockey World Cup in 2016.

While the producers of the movie deserve kudos for their attempt, Harjeeta winning the National award is a fitting reply to people who failed to judge the potential of the movie. Despite the movie not doing as well as it should have done, it winning the National award has undoubtedly recognized the labour put in together by the whole team.
